Ultraviolet: This is Your Year
Every year, Pantone holds two secret meetings (I am not even making this up) where an international group of color experts convenes and decides on the color that best sums up the spirit of the times.
The group tries to predict the trends in industries from fashion to technology to interior design
(to coloring! woo hoo!) in the coming year.
Their choice reflects what the company — and its group of international secret ninja color agents — thinks will capture the spirit of the year.
Ultraviolet is a deep, bold, vibrant purple shade that inspires both calm and creativity.
It feels exciting, yet also spiritual and relaxing. And it offers so many different ideas for inspiration and self-expression, which is really what we are all about.
Right now, as a coloring enthusiast — or heck, just as a purple enthusiast — there are SO MANY ways to be inspired by the Color of the Year for 2018!
There are sunsets!
And night skies!
Plus tropical flowers!
And mountains in twilight!
Also, snowy evenings!
Ultraviolet has so many fantastic ways to ignite your inspirations (and, um, make me dream of my next vacation)!
Now we want to showcase some of the ways in which the colleges and Greek life organizations in our product catalog already incorporate this inspiring shade. In each case, the sisterhoods that include Ultraviolet as part of their symbolism use it to reflect their own profound, nurturing connections to one another, and the bonds that strengthen them.
Hello Unicorns! I’m guessing you are already all over this, but Ultraviolet totally fits in with your colors! Ultraviolet is a deep, rich color, perfect to represent the long history of your sisterhood. Also, it’s pretty much perfect for coloring irises (and awesome for unicorns)! Also, purple is the official color of one of your philanthropies: the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders. So, Ultraviolet is a solid Delta Phi Epsilon color!
Hey there Sigma Kappas! Ok, so Ultraviolet isn’t quite lavender, but we can definitely work with it. As a Sigma Kappa, Ultraviolet is a pretty perfect color for you. It absolutely works for, say, coloring an actual violet (coloring page). Or for representing Alzheimer’s awareness (which is such a great cause)! Plus, I think you could definitely work it in to some dove or heart artwork, as well! Score!
Ultraviolet is also a perfect color for TriSigmas! You also have the violet as your symbolic flower, which makes it perfect for any floral artwork you might be inspired to create. And it would also go pretty well with any sailing-themed work! Purple is also the official color of the March of Dimes awareness campaign, which is one of your important philanthropies. So hooray for Sigma Sigma Sigma and Ultraviolet!
